Add an order bump as a checkbox offer on your checkout page, and add an upsell as a separate page shown right after the purchase. Both need a payment method connected first, and both depend on your platform supporting them, so confirm that on the official site before you plan around them. Start with one bump. Add an upsell once the basic sale is working.
Order bump vs. upsell
- Order bump: a small add-on offered on the checkout page, usually a single tick-box. The buyer adds it before paying.
- Upsell: a separate offer shown after the buyer has paid or committed. It's often a bigger or related product, with a "yes" and a "no thanks" option.
Basic steps
- Build the core funnel first. You need a working sales page, checkout and thank-you page. If you don't have that yet, see How to Build Your First Sales Funnel Step by Step.
- Connect payments. See How do I set up Stripe or PayPal payments in a funnel?. Some upsell flows may work differently depending on the payment method, so check this in your platform's help docs.
- Create the extra product. Give it its own name and price. Keep the price low relative to the main offer for a bump.
- Attach the bump to checkout. Write one short line on what it is and why it helps. Don't oversell it.
- Add the upsell step. Place it after checkout, with a clear way to decline that still leads to the thank-you page.
- Test with a real purchase. Check the totals, delivery emails and access for each product combination.

- It should be closely related to what the buyer is already getting, such as a template pack, a checklist or a faster-start bonus.
- Keep it to one decision. Several stacked offers can irritate buyers and may lead to refunds.
- Be plain about what's included. Surprises erode trust.
Honest tradeoffs
A bump or upsell can raise your average order value, but there's no guarantee. A weak or mismatched offer can add friction and lower conversions. Run it for a while and compare results with and without it. Also check refund terms and your local consumer rules on pricing disclosure. If you're unsure, ask a professional.
