A basic sales funnel needs four pages: an opt-in or landing page, a sales page, a checkout page, and a thank-you page. Most small businesses can start with just these, then add extras like upsells once the core path works. Which pages you need depends on what you sell and how much trust a visitor needs before paying.
The core pages, in order
- Landing or opt-in page: Offers something useful (a guide, checklist, or discount) in exchange for an email address. Keep it to one headline, a few benefits, and one form. For setup details, see Lead Magnet Funnel Setup.
- Sales page: Explains the offer, who it's for, what's included, and answers common objections. Longer is not always better. A low-priced item needs less persuasion than a high-priced one.
- Checkout page: Collects payment. Remove anything that distracts from finishing the purchase.
- Thank-you page: Confirms the action, tells people what happens next, and points them to delivery or access.
Optional pages worth adding later
- Order bump: A small add-on offered on the checkout page itself.
- Upsell or downsell: A follow-up offer shown right after purchase.
- Webinar or booking page: Useful for higher-priced services where people want to talk first.
- Legal pages: Privacy policy, terms, and refund policy. These aren't optional in practice. Rules vary by location, so check requirements with a qualified professional.

Emails do a lot of the work between pages. A welcome message and a follow-up sequence often recover sales that the pages alone miss. See How to Set Up Email Automations for a Funnel.
