Moving your funnel and email list to a new platform is doable, but it's rarely a one-click job. Most of the work is careful bookkeeping: knowing what you have, what can move, and what has to be rebuilt. This guide walks through the process in a sensible order and points out where things tend to go wrong.
One note up front: platforms differ in what they import and export, and those details change. Check the official sites for current features and limits before you commit to a plan.
Should You Migrate at All?
Migrating costs time, and some of that time is unpaid risk. Before you start, be honest about why you're moving.
- Good reasons: your current costs no longer fit your revenue, you're paying for several tools that one platform could replace, or you keep hitting a limit that blocks your business.
- Weak reasons: a new interface looks nicer, or someone online says a tool is better. If your funnel converts and your email gets delivered, the grass may not be greener.
If you're still comparing options, read the review and comparison page first so you know what the new platform does and doesn't cover. Then confirm pricing and limits on the official site.
Step 1: Audit What You Have
Make a simple inventory in a spreadsheet. You can't move what you haven't listed.
Funnel assets
- Every page: opt-in, sales, checkout, thank-you, upsell
- Products, prices, and payment plans
- Order bumps and upsells
- Custom domains and subdomains
- Tracking pixels and analytics codes
- Legal pages (privacy policy, terms, refund policy)
Email assets
- Contact list, with tags, segments, and custom fields
- Automations: welcome, follow-up, abandoned cart
- Broadcast templates and your best-performing past emails
- Unsubscribed and bounced contacts
Customer assets
- Customer records and purchase history
- Course members and their access
- Active subscriptions or payment plans
Step 2: Export Your Data and Keep a Backup
Export before you change anything. Save the files somewhere safe, even if you think you won't need them.
- Export your full contact list as a CSV, including tags and custom fields where possible.
- Export unsubscribes and bounces separately. You must not re-add people who opted out.
- Copy your page text and take screenshots of each page's layout.
- Copy your email automation text and note the timing and trigger for each email.
- Export sales and customer records for your accounting and support needs.
Tradeoff: funnel pages almost never transfer cleanly between platforms. Plan to rebuild them. Contact lists usually move easily; automation logic usually doesn't.
Step 3: Handle Email Consent Carefully
Your list is your most valuable asset, and it comes with legal obligations. Rules about consent vary by country and region, and some platforms have their own policies about importing contacts. Check your new platform's terms and, if you're unsure about your obligations, consult a qualified professional.
- Only import contacts who gave you permission to email them.
- Never import anyone who unsubscribed or was marked as a spam complaint.
- Some platforms may ask you to confirm how the list was collected, or may review large imports.
Step 4: Rebuild in the New Platform
Build in a logical order, so you can test each piece as you go.
- Set up the account basics. Add your business details, sender name, and sender email address.
- Import contacts. Map your CSV columns to the right fields and apply tags so your segments survive the move.
- Recreate products and payments. See how to set up Stripe or PayPal payments in a funnel.
- Rebuild the funnel pages. If you want a refresher, follow How to Build Your First Sales Funnel Step by Step or the Systeme.io tutorial. For a simple opt-in flow, see Lead Magnet Funnel Setup.
- Recreate your automations. Use How to Set Up Email Automations for a Funnel as a guide.
- Add bumps, upsells, and segmentation. See how to add an order bump or upsell and Advanced Funnel Workflows.
Not sure how long this will take? How long does it take to build a sales funnel? gives a realistic picture. Migration is usually faster than a first build, because the copy and strategy already exist, but don't assume it will be quick.

Keep the old funnel live while you build and test the new one. When you're ready, connect your custom domain to the new funnel. DNS changes can take time to take effect, so schedule the switch for a quiet period rather than the middle of a promotion.
Step 6: Test Before You Switch
Run through the Funnel Pre-Launch Checklist: payments, tracking, legal pages, and testing. At a minimum:
- Sign up through your opt-in form and confirm the delivery email arrives.
- Make a test purchase, including any bump or upsell.
- Check that tags and automations trigger correctly.
- Test on mobile.
- Confirm your tracking fires.
What Usually Breaks
| Item | Typical outcome | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Contact list | Usually transfers via CSV | Check fields and tags after import |
| Funnel pages | Usually rebuilt by hand | Use your screenshots and copied text |
| Automations | Usually rebuilt by hand | Document triggers and timing first |
| Subscriptions | Can be complicated | Check with both platforms and your payment processor before moving |
| Email deliverability | May dip temporarily | Send to engaged contacts first and ramp up gradually |
Tips for a Smoother Move
- Don't cancel the old account right away. Keep it for a month or so in case you missed something, if the cost is acceptable.
- Warm up gradually. A new sending setup has no reputation, so start with your most engaged subscribers.
- Tell your list. A short note about the change helps people recognize your emails.
- Handle active customers first. Anyone with ongoing access or payments needs a clear plan so they don't lose anything.
- Migrate in phases. Moving one funnel at a time is slower but safer than doing everything in a weekend.
Next Steps
Start with the audit and the exports. They cost nothing and protect you whether or not you migrate.
